Wooden floor
When installing from above, suspended timber floor insulation can be placed on a suspended netting. Using the natural friction fitting of the lightweight slabs will ensure tight placement – avoiding air leaks.
When installing from below, insulation can be pushed against the existing floor boarding. Placing some lathing or netting underneath will help keep products in place.
Concrete floor
With a concrete floor, insulation slabs can be mechanically fixed against the underside of the floor.
Key tips:
- Check the existing floor beams – assure all beams are in a good state, especially where they rest in the wall.
- Moisture control – place a vapour barrier on top of the insulation to avoid moisture building up in the wooden floor.
- Use protective gear – when installing from below make sure you use proper protective gear such as goggles and gloves.
